I start every morning with a journal entry and the first two lines are always the same.
This is the day the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it.
Although you may have heard this phrase many times in your life, I have heard it most often from my Dad. He is known for walking into the office and making his presence known by loudly proclaiming the first part. Then, if you are in his line of sight you better be ready to answer with the second line.
The best part? He believes it, lives it and helps others to believe it as well. Important to remember on the bad days too. No matter what that this IS the day that the Lord has made and he doesn't make mistakes.
I talked about what makes your soul sing in last night's post. I gave some suggestions but here is a little of my truth.
This is the day the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it.
Even though it is Monday and my plate overfloweth. I will rejoice and be glad in it.
Even though I have to have a difficult conversation, I will rejoice and be glad in it.
Even though I know I won't get to sit in by my tree, with my coffee, and a book, (mostly because there isn't a tree) I will rejoice and be glad in it.
There have been times in life when I couldn't find a whole lot to rejoice about. It makes me sad to go down that particular memory lane. I couldn't find one thing to rejoice about because I had quit drinking and I definitely wasn't glad in it. It happened though. Slowly I did find new things to rejoice about. It has taught me well. There is always something to rejoice about.
Learned that little lesson from Jer Bear himself.
Peace on your Monday,
Sherry
